What Hamilton houses actually need

The glass in a Durand century home and the glass in a Binbrook new build are two different jobs. Here is what we run into across the city.

Century homes in Durand, Kirkendall and Dundas

Wood sash, putty glazing and single pane are still everywhere in the lower city. We reglaze in the existing sash so the exterior look does not change, which matters on streets under heritage review.

Post-war brick on the Mountain

Most homes above the escarpment are on their second generation of sealed units. Twenty to thirty year old units fog first on the south and west elevations, and those are the ones we replace most.

Newer builds in Ancaster, Binbrook and Waterdown

Big picture windows and tempered patio sliders. These are ordered to size, so we measure, board or tape the opening if needed, and fit once the glass is cut.

Lake and escarpment exposure

Wind off the harbour and the Stoney Creek and Winona lakeshore is hard on perimeter seals. We see earlier seal failure near the water than a few kilometres inland.

Storefronts on King, James and Ottawa Street

Break-ins and impact damage on commercial lites get boarded the same evening, then a laminated or tempered lite goes in to code, on one invoice for the landlord or insurer.

Steel city dust and industrial north end

Screens and tracks clog faster in the north end. When we are in for glass we clean the track and check the hardware while we are there.

What Hamilton customers say

Called at 9, glass was in by 2, and the price was the one on the website. No mess left behind.
Priya, Hamilton Mountain
Two foggy sealed units in a 1930s brick semi, done in one visit. They matched the Low-E and the rooms feel warmer already.
Daniel, Westdale
King Street storefront went in overnight. Boarded at 7pm, new lite by the next afternoon, one invoice.
Marisol, Downtown Hamilton
Patio slider pane. They told me the range on the phone and the final number did not move.
Tom, Ancaster
Old wood sash on a Dundas century home. They reglazed it instead of pushing a new window on me.
Sandra, Dundas
Kid put a ball through the back window. Boarded within two hours, new glass three days later as promised.
Kevin, Stoney Creek

Call before noon and stock glass goes in today.

If the unit is in stock we fit it the same day. If it is not, you get the date before we hang up, and the price does not move after that.

Hamilton questions

Do you charge a travel fee anywhere in Hamilton?

No. Downtown, the Mountain, Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, Winona, Waterdown, Binbrook and Mount Hope are all covered with no travel fee.

Can you match the glass in an older Hamilton home?

Usually yes. We match thickness and putty or bead glazing on wood sash, and we match Low-E and argon spec on sealed units so the window performs the way it did.

How fast can a storefront on King or James be secured?

Same evening. We board it, then fit the correct tempered or laminated lite once it is cut, normally within 24 to 72 hours.

Do you work outside Hamilton?

No. We stay inside the city so we can hold same day times, which is why we can be there faster than a company driving in from out of town.
